Why Domain Changes May Take Time to Appear

Understand DNS propagation and why a correct domain change may not be visible everywhere immediately.

Domain and DNS changes can take time to become visible consistently across the internet.

Internet service providers, devices and DNS resolvers cache DNS information. When you change a nameserver or DNS record, some resolvers can continue using the previous value until their cached copy expires.

As a result, a website may show the new destination on one network while another network still reaches the old destination.

This does not automatically mean the change failed.

During propagation, avoid repeatedly changing the same records. Multiple changes make it harder to determine which configuration is being observed.

Confirm the intended nameservers or DNS values at the authoritative source and allow reasonable time for caches to refresh.

If the domain still shows the wrong destination after propagation should reasonably have completed, collect the domain name, expected destination and any DNS information you can see, then contact Kimnet support.
