How to Check Your Hosting Storage Usage

Monitor disk usage and identify when your hosting account is approaching its storage allocation.

Your hosting package includes a defined storage allocation.

The Kimnet service page can display synchronized hosting usage information where available. cPanel also provides disk-usage information that can help identify which areas of the account are consuming storage.

Website files are only one part of disk usage. Email mailboxes, databases, logs, backups and temporary files can also consume space.

If usage is high, identify the source before deleting data. Do not remove unfamiliar application or system files simply to free space.

Large email mailboxes are a common source of storage consumption. Old website archives and locally stored backup copies can also use significant space.

If your normal website and email requirements have outgrown the current package, consider a package upgrade rather than repeatedly deleting necessary data.

When requesting support for unexplained storage usage, provide the affected service and the usage figure you are seeing. Kimnet can then compare the customer portal information with the hosting account where appropriate.
